ITL BioMedical’s hot pink scooter scheme a runaway success

We were thrilled to see our sister company ITL Biomedical profiled in CEO Magazine this month for its innovative approach to staff retention.

The unique HR initiative involved giving hot pink Yamaha scooters to employees at its manufacturing facility in Ipoh, Malaysia, to promote staff loyalty and allow workers to have greater independence in their every day lives.

The scooter scheme is the brainchild of ITL Health Group founder and executive chairman Bill Mobbs. ITL Health Group is the parent company of MyHealthTest and ITL BioMedical.

“We train our staff extensively at ITL BioMedical, so keeping them with us for as long as possible is very important to us,” Mr Mobbs told CEO Magazine.

“We’re confident our scooter scheme will help us attract and retain our highly-skilled local workforce for the longer term.”

Giving employees the freedom to travel

A significant benefit of the scooter scheme is that it allows our manufacturing employees to be more independent, according to ITL BioMedical general manager Craig Wilson.

“While we have a bus service that transports our employees to and from home, the rest of the time they might not have access to transport.

“The new scooters give our employees and their families the freedom to travel independently outside of work.”

Mr Wilson says the aim of the HR initiative is for employees to own their scooters, which will become the personal property of each employee after three years of continuous service with ITL BioMedical.
